Melanie: Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards Nominees ...

It?s that time of year again ? the nominations have been counted and verified and the final contenders have been chosen. It must be the fourth annual Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards.

Carlsberg UK are once again sponsoring the awards and Matt Callan, Carlsberg UK?s Production Director, explains why:

?Carlsberg has been brewing in Northampton since the seventies and we are really proud to call it our home town. Our local community is really important to us so we?re delighted to once again be sponsoring this fantastic initiative and look forward to celebrating all that is great about our local food and drink.?

With twelve categories to vote in including new categories such as Artisan/Local Product/Drink of the Year, New Local Product of the Year and New Local Drink of the Year, this is set to be the best Food and Drink Awards yet!

You may recognise some of the restaurants in the various categories as part of the Go dine family including The Wig and Pen in Northampton town centre who are up against Spinney Hill, The Lamplighter and The Swan and Helmet in the Community Pub of the Year ? Town.

As you may have read yesterday, The Olde Red Lion have been nominated for the third year in a row for the Pub/Bar Restaurant of the Year award and they face tough competition from the Hopping Hare, The Red Lion in Culworth, The Royal Oak and Eydon, The Saracen?s Head and The White Swan in Woodnewton.

Nominated for Restaurant of the Year are Oundle Mill, Frank?s Steakhouse, Murray?s at Whittlebury Hall, The Exeter Arms, The Seafood Caf? and The Raj in Kettering.

Winners will be announced on the 14^th November so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the results!
