Melanie: President Mahama to open first ever Ghana Music Week

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to open the first-ever Ghana Music Week (GMW) being organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts in collaboration with the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA)on Monday 4th March.

The opening of the event will take place at the National Theatre on the theme:??Engaging Music as a Catalyst for Unity and National Growth?.

Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts is fully in support of the initiative. Her Ministry and MUSIGA on Saturday March 2nd urged all radio and television stations including entertainment facilities in the country to play Ghanaian music as part of activities to mark the Music Week.

Activities lined up for the celebration include Traditional Music Day on March 4th where there will be artistes? signature gathering and the official opening by President Mahama. The Minister of Trade and Industry will also open an exhibition. Regional music and dance festival will also be organised across the ten regions.
